Alas for Kānepūniu in the heat of the sun

Aloha ka ulu hala o Kahuku i ka paia ē ke onaona
Alas for the pandanus grooves of Kahuku on the perfuming the bowers

Aloha ka ʻāhihi o Nuʻuanu i ka welu hau
Alas for the ʻāhihi of Nuʻuanu in the snippets of dew

Aloha ka makani kūkalahale o Honolulu
Alas the Kūkalahale wind of Honolulu

Aloha o Panaʻewanui moku lehua.
Alas for the lehua forests of Panaʻewanui

Aloha ke akua ʻokiʻoki poʻo o Mahiki
Alas for the beheading ghosts of Mahiki forest

Aloha ʻo Waiānuenue e pipiʻo mai ana i ka pali
Alas for Waiānuenue arching over the cliff

Aloha ka ua heʻekoko ʻula i ka moana
Alas for the bright low-lying rainbow over the sea

Aloha ʻo Kinimakalehua i ka wela o ka lā
Alas for Kinimakalehua in the heat of the sun

Aloha ʻo Lilinoe ka wahine noho mauna
Alas for Lilinoe, the mountain dwelling woman

Aloha ka nahele o ʻOpuola
Alas for the forest of ʻOpuola

Aloha nā waipuna a me nā kiʻowai o Palesetina
Alas for the springs and pools of Palestine

Aloha ka loke o Sarona
Alas for the Rose of Sharon

Aloha ka lae ʻino o Kepe Horn kahi o ka wahine ia
Alas The stormy point of Cape Horn, the place of the woman

E ka hanauna Hawaiʻi ē, e kanikau aʻe kākou
O Hawaiian generations, let us mourn

E ka Mōʻī ē, kanikau aʻe no Haʻalilio
O King, lament for Haʻalilio

E kanikau aku iā Iehova me nā mea kani
Cry out to Jehovah with resonance

E Hōsana iā Iehova me ke ola a pau
Exalt Jehovah, for all salvation

"Eia ka lā a Iehova i hana, e ʻoliʻoli kākou, a e hauʻoli iho ia."
"Here is the day Jehovah has made, let us rejoice, and he shall be elated."

"Na Iehova ka ʻōlelo i hāʻawi maila
"It is Jehovah who granted the word

and many have spread it

The virgin conceives giving birth
